BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:00 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) resumed their offensive in the Deir Ezzor Governorate, today, striking the Islamic State (ISIL) terror organization west of the provincial capital.

Led by the Al-Qassem Group, the Syrian Arab Army managed to liberate several points near the Thardeh Mountains, including the Deir Ezzor Electrical Company facility that was previously under Islamic State control.

Following the liberation of the Deir Ezzor Electrical Company facility, the Syrian Arab Army began targeting the Islamic State’s positions at Al-Juraiya village, inflicting heavy damage with surface-to-surface missiles.

The Syrian Arab Army would then launch a simultaneous ground assault at the provincial cemetery, where they are engaged in a heated battle with the Islamic State militants.

If the Syrian Arab Army is successful in capturing Al-Juraiya village and the provincial cemetery, then they will have successfully lifted the five month long siege on the Deir Ezzor Airport.
