BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:20 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) carried out a series of attacks, today, against the jihadist rebels in northwestern Hama.
Units from the Syrian Arab Army scored several direct hits on the defenses of the Turkestan Islamic Party (TIP), causing a number of explosions that could be heard in the Al-Ghaab Plain.
According to a military communique from the government stronghold of Mhardeh, the Syrian Arab Army destroyed several jihadist trenches that were raised near the towns of Ziyara and Al-Sirmaniyah.
The communique added that the Syrian military was able to kill a number of jihadist rebels that present at those trenches when they were hit with surface-to-surface missiles and artillery shells.
The Turkestan Islamic Party is considered a hardline militant group that is comprised of a large number of foreign combatants.
Similar to Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham, the Turkestan Islamic Party mostly operates in the Jisr Al-Shughour countryside of Idlib, making this region of the province a major security concern for the Syrian Arab Army and Russian military.
