DAMASCUS, SYRIA (7:00 P.M) – On Friday, ISIS militants lost control of two important towns east of Salamiyah after the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) 5th Legion unleashed a large-scale operation.

Striking deep into ISIS’ interior lines, the Russian-trained units overran the towns of Zanoubah and Qatteshah along with the Koujan hills and their surrounding farms.

Thereby, SAA contingents are inching their way towards the long-standing ISIS stronghold of Aqriybat from three axes amid a bid to overwhelm this jihadist fortification and command center.

Although Al-Masdar News was unable to obtain confirmef information regarding the Islamic State death toll, most casualties were inflicted by air raids and artillery shelling.

Meanwhile, reports indicate the Desert Hawks Brigade will no longer participate in the eastern Hama offensive for reasons unbeknownst to AMN.
