DAMASCUS, SYRIA (0:30 A.M.) – Following the capture of the Al-Shumariyah mountain chain in eastern Homs, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) proceeded to liberate three nearby villages on Wednesday.

Reaching areas under Islamic State control since 2014, the SAA’s 5th Legion and National Defence Forces (NDF) advanced further on the Jubb Al-Jarrah axis and expelled jihadist militants from the villages of Al-Tadmuriyah, Al-Khaliliyah and Al-Mahsham.

Russian airstrikes played a major role is dislodging ISIS gun positions and outposts, killing at least ten insurgents and prompting many more to retreat.

Below, government troops can be seen liberating the aforementioned villages and hunting down ISIS vehicles trying to escape the battlefield:

This region is highly strategic as it safeguards the Palmyra salient while jihadist belligerents have posed a significant threat to the SAA stronghold of Salamiyah for some time.
