It took nearly 4 days to do it, but the Syrian Arab Army’s 137th Artillery Brigade of the 17th Reserve Division and the National Defense Forces (NDF) have reportedly liberated the strategic Thayyem Oil Fields from the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) terrorists in southwestern Deir Ezzor.

According to a battlefield report from the Deir Ezzor Governorate, the Syrian Arab Army’s 137th Brigade and the National Defense Forces were able to impose full control over the Thayyem Oil Fields after a violent battle with the ISIS terrorists entrenched at the southern oil wells on late Saturday night.

The capture of the Thayyem Oil Fields is significant for the Syrian Armed Forces because it gives them a strong presence along the Deir Ezzor-Mayadeen Highway.

Despite the capture of the Thayyem Oil Fields, the Gas Company’s Technical Institute is still under ISIS control; however, the Syrian Arab Army’s 104th Airborne Brigade of the Republican Guard is reportedly attacking this site tonight.

Please treat this discussion with the same respect you would a public park. We, too, are a shared community resource — a place to share skills, knowledge and interests through ongoing conversation.

These are not hard and fast rules, merely guidelines to aid the human judgment of our community and keep this a clean and well-lighted place for civilized public discourse.

Improve the Discussion

Help us make this a great place for discussion by always working to improve the discussion in some way, however small. If you are not sure your post adds to the conversation, think over what you want to say and try again later.

Be Agreeable, Even When You Disagree

You may wish to respond to something by disagreeing with it. That’s fine. But remember to criticize ideas, not people. Please avoid:

  • Name-calling
  • Ad hominem attacks
  • Responding to a post’s tone instead of its actual content
  • Knee-jerk contradiction

Instead, provide reasoned counter-arguments that improve the conversation.
