The Syrian Arab Army’s 5th Armored Division – backed by the National Defense Forces (NDF) – continued their military operations in the east Sweida countryside on Friday, targeting the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham’s (ISIS) positions near the town of Al-Qasr.

According to a military source in Al-Sweida, the Syrian Armed Forces were able to liberate several small hilltops around the ISIS controlled town of Al-Qasr while also killing 13 enemy combatants in the process of this advance.

In addition to their advance at Al-Qasr, the Syrian Armed Forces were once again able to push back the ISIS militants from the strategic hilltop of Tal Dhalka near the Khalkhalah Military Airport after an intense battle on Friday evening.

Recently, the Syrian Armed Forces have increased their military activity in the Al-Sweida countryside to coincide with their cleansing operations in the vicinity of the Dumayr Military Airport in rural Damascus.
