BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:05 P.M.) The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) is on a roll in the Palmyra countryside today, liberating several points from the Islamic State (ISIS) around the southern and eastern flanks of the city.

Backed by heavy Russian airstrikes, the Syrian Arab Army’s 5th Legion managed to break-through the Islamic State’s defenses at the Palmyra Grain Silos, liberating this entire site by 6:00 P.M. (Damascus Time) on Monday evening.

The liberation of the Palmyra Silos on Monday means that the Syrian Arab Army has successfully secured the the military airport that is located at the eastern flank of the city.

In addition to the liberation of the Palmyra Silos, the Syrian Arab Army has also captured the Electrical Station that is location the southern flank of the city.

Since this was their last stand in Palmyra, I expect the Syrian Army to use their momentum to chase them to Arak and later to As Sukhnah. ISIL has been collapsing recently and the SAA must not stop the chase.
