BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:30 A.M.) – The Syrian Army continued military operations in eastern Homs province, close to Palmyra, Sunday.

Earlier in the day government forces defeated the militants of the so-called Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS/ISIL) at the mountainous region located to the north of the Mazar mountains in Palmyra’s countryside.

As a result of this advance, the Syrian Arab Army implemented fire control of the Al-Hurm Mountains that are located directly north of the mountain ridge they liberated on Sunday.

The video footage above shows the Syrian Arab Army’s operations on Sunday; it also shows the government forces taking control of the contested mountains in northern Palmyra.
