BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:05 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) continued their large-scale offensive in the western countryside of Palmyra on Sunday, targeting the Islamic State’s (ISIS) final positions inside the eastern part of Al-Bayarat.
Led by the 5th Legion and 18th Tank Division, the Syrian Arab Army stormed the Islamic State’s defenses in the eastern part of Al-Bayarat, killing and wounding several militants while their allies from the Russian Air Force bombed the terrorist group’s positions.
According to a military source in east Homs, the Syrian Arab Army managed to liberate several points inside the eastern part of Al-Bayarat, putting them within striking distance of the Palyra Triangle.
Sunday’s advance comes just 24 hours after the Syrian Arab Army liberated the entire Hayyan Gas Fields and the Tarfah Al-Gharbiyah area in western Palmyra.
