BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:20 A.M.) – Minutes ago, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) launched a powerful night assault in the Deir Ezzor Governorate, targeting the Islamic State’s (ISIS) positions north of the strategic military airport.

Led by the Al-Qassem Group of the Republican Guard, the Syrian Arab Army stormed the Islamic State’s positions inside the provincial cemetery; this resulted in a violent firefight that is still ongoing at the moment.

According to a military source in Deir Ezzor, the Syrian Arab Army’s Al-Qassem Group managed to liberate Hill 23 after overrunning the terrorist group’s defenses at the western perimeter of this large hilltop in the provincial cemetery area.

The military source added that Hill 23 overlooks the garbage dump area and Thardeh Canyon area of western Deir Ezzor.

Meanwhile, south of Deir Ezzor, the Syrian Arab Army’s 123rd and 137th brigades continued their joint assault against the Islamic State forces, advancing south of the recently liberated ‘Alloush Hill.

I hope they succeed this time to join the two pockets so that the resupply becomes easier again. The situation without this is too risky.
