BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:15 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) launched a new offensive in the eastern countryside of the Hama Governorate on Thursday, targeting the Islamic State’s (ISIS) stronghold of Al-Uqayrbat along their supply route from Al-Raqqa to east Homs.
According to Al-Masdar’s central Syria correspondent, Majd Fahd, the Syrian Arab Army, alongside the National Defense Forces (NDF) from Al-Salamiyah, liberated several points from the Islamic State terrorists, killing and wounding a number of enemy combatants in the process of their advance.
Fahd specifically stated that the Syrian Armed Forces liberated the Al-Sawalem Checkpoint, along with a number of points near the village of Fikan in the Al-Salamiyah countryside.
The Syrian Arab Army and their allies are currently pushing southeast towards Al-Uqayrbat, which is located in the Islamic State’s heartland between east Hama and east Homs.
