BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:55 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) had a great day in the Deir Ezzor Governorate on Saturday, liberating several areas that were once occupied by the so-called Islamic State (ISIS).
Among the several sites captured by the Syrian Arab Army on Saturday was the strategic city of Al-Mayadeen, which served as the Islamic State’s de facto capital since losing almost all of the Al-Raqqa Governorate.
The Syrian Army would not stop after liberating Al-Mayadeen, as their forces continued their advance north of the provincial capital.
Led by the 4th Mechanized Division and 5th Legion, the Syrian Arab Army bulled through the Islamic State’s defenses at the key town of Al-Husseiniyeh, further securing the recently liberated village of Hatla.
With all of these gains over the last 48 hours, the Syrian Arab Army is preparing to clear the provincial capital and put an end to the Islamic State’s presence inside Deir Ezzor.
