BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:50 A.M.) – At approximately 11:15 A.M. (Damascus Time), the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) established full control over the strategic Hayyan Gas Fields in western Palmyra (Tadmur).
Led by the 5th Legion and 18th Tank Division, the Syrian Arab Army launched a powerful assault against the Islamic State (ISIS) forces in the Badiyah region of east Homs this morning, overrunning the terrorist group’s first-line of defense at the Hayyan Gas Fields by 10:30 A.M.
Once the Syrian Arab Army fractured the Islamic State’s defenses the Hayyan Gas Fields, their soldiers were able to secure all points from the retreating terrorist forces.
Despite the fact the Islamic State destroyed most of the gas wells at the Hayyan Gas Fields, the recapture of this site will pay dividends for the Syrian Arab Army in the future, as they attempt to liberate the village of Al-Bayarat, which is located less than 40km west of Palmyra.
