This morning, elements of the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) 11th Division and the National Defence Forces (NDF) stormed and seized a bunch of villages from the Islamic State in eastern Homs.

Thus, government troops were able to impose full control over the villages of Masada, Mushayrifah ash Shamaliyah, al-Salihiyah, Ard Krez, Rajm Altawil, and ‘point 802’.

No info was given about death toll although heavy firefights were witnessed in the area.

These villages formerly functioned as a launched pad for ISIS to attack the government stronghold of Jubb al-Jarrah, a town located southeast of Salamiyah.

Long-term, this SAA advance will also relieve the pressure on nearby Palmyra which is coming under increasing attacks by ISIS fighters eager to recapture the ancient city.

Be Agreeable, Even When You Disagree

You may wish to respond to something by disagreeing with it. That’s fine. But remember to criticize ideas, not people. Please avoid:

  • Name-calling
  • Ad hominem attacks
  • Responding to a post’s tone instead of its actual content
  • Knee-jerk contradiction

Instead, provide reasoned counter-arguments that improve the conversation.
