BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:30 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) continues to expand on their territorial gains in the eastern countryside of Aleppo, liberating dozens of villages from the Islamic State (ISIS) terror organization in less than two weeks.

As a result of their recent operations, the Syrian Arab Army has managed to liberate the Islamic State’s east Aleppo headquarters at Al-Khafsa; thus, putting an end to the terrorist group’s three year long rule over the province’s important water supply.

In addition to liberating the Aleppo Governorate’s primary water source from Lake Assad, the Syrian Arab Army has also seized more than 150 villages and 12 important from the Islamic State forces since the start of their offensive on January 13th.

With their recent advance to the Jirah Military Airport, the Syrian Arab Army is preparing to enter the Maskanah Plain for the first time since their withdrawal from this part of the Aleppo Governorate in 2013.

Fantastic – but in large part because IS decided to withdraw. Why didn’t they bypass the airport at once and surround the defenders?
