The Syrian Arab Army’s 66th Brigade of the 11th Tank Division laid a successful ambush on an ISIL (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) weapons supply convoy in the east Hama countryside, killing and wounding several enemy combatants in the process.
According to a battlefield correspondent in the Hama Governorate, the Syrian Armed Forces carried out the ambush along the Sheikh Hilal-Salamiyah Road, creating a massive explosion after a rocket propelled grenade hit a set of explosives in one of the ISIL supply trucks.
The source added that all of the ISIS combatants travelling in this convoy were killed and all of their equipment destroyed as a result of the ambush.
ISIS has been trying to build another presence along this important roadway for quite some time; however, the constant reconnaissance flights conducted by the Russian and Syrian air forces has made it very difficult for the terrorist group to maneuver around the eastern countryside of the Hama Governorate.
In addition to the ambush that was conducted by the Syrian Armed Forces today, the Russian and Syrian air forces carried out a series of airstrikes over the ISIS stronghold of ‘Aqayrbat in the Al-Salamiyah District, destroying several of the terrorist group’s mechanisms.
