Syrian Army launches new assault to recapture Zarah village

Two weeks after withdrawing from Zarah, the Syrian Arab Army’s 66th Brigade of the 11th Tank Division launched a new assault to recapture this village and the checkpoints they lost to the jihadist rebel forces earlier this week.

According to a military source at the Hama Airport, the Syrian Armed Forces are attacking the jihadist rebels of Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) from several axes in southern Hama, as they attempt to regain the initiative.

So far, no gains have been reported by the Al-Masdar sources in Hama; however, the assault is expected to intensify in the coming hours, as Russian and Syrian fighter jets pound the jihadist rebels around the Orontes River.
