Syrian Army Troops Inches Closer to ISIS-Held Oil-Rich Region in Homs

Hama, Syria (6:35 P.M.) – Following hours of intense aerial and missile bombardment on jihadist positions in the troubled northern countryside of Hama, the Syrian Army supported by local NDF units launched a counter-offensive from two axes.

The assault is currently being launched from Ma’ardes and Khattab axes with reports that Ma’ardes has been fully secured now. Initially, Jund Al-Aqsa terrorists exerted control over the northernmost section of the town that is connected to Sawran.

So far, over 30 militants have been killed in the ongoing clashes with dozens more injured. On a separate note, the FSA-affiliated Jaish Al-Izza managed to down a Syrian Gazelle helicopter north of Khattab the previous day.
