DAMASCUS, SYRIA (1:30 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army’s 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard, backed by the Palestine Liberation Army (PLA) and National Defense Forces (NDF), launched a counter-offensive in the East Ghouta region of rural Damascus on Sunday night, targeting the integral town of Al-Reyhan, which is currently under the control of Jaysh Al-Islam (Army of Islam).

The 105th Brigade and their allies began their assault after spending several hours fighting off the Islamist rebels near the East Ghouta Signal Base.

With their recent gains secured, the Syrian Armed Forces launched their long-awaited attack on Al-Reyhan, storming this key town from its eastern flank.

According to an Al-Masdar correspondent in Damascus, heavy clashes are ongoing at the eastern outskirts of Al-Reyhan, with no reports of the Syrian Armed Forces entering the town yet.
