On Friday morning, the Syrian Arab Army’s Special Forces – backed by the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Damascus City and the all female Republican Guard unit – launched a fresh offensive inside the West Ghouta region of rural Damascus, targeting the strategic cities of Darayya and Mo’adhimiyah that are currently contested.
Over the course of 72 hours, the Syrian Arab Army and their allies have captured several sites that were under the control of Ajnad Al-Sham inside of Darayya, including the farms that are located between the latter and the city of Mo’adhimiyah in the Rif Dimashq Governorate.
Not only did they capture the Darayya-Mo’adhimiyah Farms, but the Syrian Arab Army and their allies also cutoff the imperative road that flows between both cities and ends at the Syrian capital of Damascus.
Currently, the Syrian Arab Army and their allies are attacking Ajnad Al-Sham’s defensive positions near the Four Seasons Hotel and along 1st Street; these aforementioned areas of Darayya have been contested for over 3 years.
The large city of Darayya is strategically located at the southwestern outskirts of Damascus City; it was once a densely populated rural city that housed thousands of people before the war destroyed much of its infrastructure.
