BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:50 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) killed one of the top rebel commanders in the East Ghouta region of rural Damascus on Monday, while fending off a Jaysh Al-Islam and Faylaq Al-Rahman assault at the town of Hazrama.
According to an Al-Masdar field correspondent in Damascus, the Syrian Arab Army killed Hamza Al-Assli (AKA “Abu Al-‘Abbas”), the top commander of the Faylaq Al-Rahman rebel group in the East Ghouta region.
The field correspondent added that as many 10 of Al-Assli’s combatants were killed alongside of him during their large-scale counter-attack to recapture the points they lost in Hazrama.
Al-Assli was one of the first people in rural Damascus to raise arms against the Syrian Arab Army; he took part in the battle of Jobar for over 4 years before being killed on Monday.
The Faylaq Al-Rahman commander was also in charge of the terrorist attack at the ‘Abbasiyeen Bus Station in Damascus that killed several civilians.
