BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:35 A.M.) – Over the weekend, the special forces branch of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham carried out an operation behind the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) lines in the western part of Aleppo city.
The attack would prove successful as the jihadist rebels killed 19 Syrian soldiers that were entrenched in the Aqrab area of western Aleppo.
During the attack, however, the jihadist rebels also lost a number of fighters, including a Yemeni militant.
Three of the jihadist rebels that were killed by the Syrian Arab Army were identified as the following:
- Saiyaf Al-Sanaani (Yemeni national)
- Bin Laden Al-Baniyasi (Syrian)
- Abu Ahmad Al-Homsi (Syrian)
Since the start of April, the jihadist and Syrian Arab Army have been trading attacks in the Aleppo Governorate; this has caused heavy losses for all parties involved.
Last week, the jihadist rebels targeted several civilian areas in Aleppo city, killing over 15 people in 48 hours.
The Syrian Arab Army has since brought reinforcements to western Aleppo to increase the security around the city.
