The Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” – backed by Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham – launched a new assault in the southern Hama countryside on Tuesday, targeting the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) positions at the Zarah Thermal Station.
Jabhat Al-Nusra and Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham would attempt to break-through the Syrian Arab Army’s defenses at the southeastern perimeter of the Zarah Thermal Station, but would eventually be repelled after nearly four hours of non-stop combat.
As a result of this failed infiltration attempt, the jihadist rebels suffered over 25 casualties at the Zarah Thermal Station, most of which occurred during the first two hours of the battle.
According to a source at the Hama Military Airport, the Syrian Armed Forces are in full control of the site and the nearby checkpoint that has been targeted on a number of occasions by the jihadist rebels.
