BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:55 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) killed over 270 Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) terrorists during their southern Syria campaign, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Monday.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Syrian Army had killed 270 Daesh militants while also seizing a large stockpile of weapons, including U.S.-made TOW missiles, that were left behind by the terrorist group in the Al-Sweida Governorate.

“During the operation, more than 270 militants were killed, a large stockpile of weapons of foreign production, munitions, shells, mines, including 12 [US-made] TOW anti-tank guided missiles, were seized,” Oleg Makarevich of the Russian Ministry of Defense’s Reconciliation Center said on Monday.

Makarevich accused the U.S. of allowing the Daesh terrorists of slipping through the Al-Tanf region to attack the Syrian Army’s positions in southeastern Homs.

In November, the Syrian Arab Army was finally able to retake the entire province of Al-Sweida after eliminating Daesh’s last major pocket in the Al-Safa volcanic region.

With Al-Safa fully liberated, the Syrian Arab Army assumed absolute control over the Sweida-Deir Ezzor provincial border for the first time since 2013.
