BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:40 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army kept up the momentum in the southeastern countryside of Al-Raqqa tonight, liberating at least a half dozen villages that were under the control of the Islamic State (ISIL).
Led by their Tiger Forces, the Syrian Arab Army attacked the last remaining villages under the Islamic State’s control near the strategic town of Ma’adan, resulting in a series of intense clashes that lasted until the early evening hours.
According to a military source, the Tiger Forces, alongside the 124th Regiment of the Republican Guard and Raqqawi tribesmen, liberated the villages of Al-Hardan, Salem A-Hamad, Al-‘Atshanah, Maqlat Kabeera, Maqlat Saghira, and Al-Da’ama.
In addition to liberating a half dozen villages, the Syrian military also destroyed more than 30 Islamic State vehicles and 6 car bombs, along with seizing 2 tanks.
The Syrian Arab Army is now gearing up to attack the strategic town of Ma’adan, which is the Islamic State’s last stronghold in the southeastern countryside of the Al-Raqqa Governorate.
