BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:30 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) continued their advance in the Deir Ezzor Governorate, today, liberating a new town south of the provincial capital.
Led by the 4th Mechanized Division and 5th Legion, the Syrian Arab Army attacked the Islamic State’s (ISIS) positions at the small town of Mahkan.
Within hours of launching the attack, the Syrian Arab Army was able to overtake the Islamic State militants inside Mahkan, forcing the remaining terrorists to retreat from the town.
According to a military report, the Syrian Army killed at least eight Islamic State militants during the attack, while also seizing a large cache of weapons left inside the town.
