BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:30 P.M.) – A Syrian Arab Army (SAA) roadblock prevented a U.S. military patrol from completing its operation along a road (Hasaka – Tal Brak) in the eastern countryside of Al-Hasakah on Wednesday
According to Sputnik Arabic, elements at a Syrian Arab Army checkpoint stationed in the village of Tal Aswad prevented a U.S. military contingent from crossing over and completing their patrol to Al-Qamishli.
The Syrian Army’s move to block the U.S. military patrol comes at a time when several villagers in the Al-Hasakah Governorate have protested the American presence in the Al-Jazeera region.
An officer in the Syrian Army confirmed to Sputnik that the Tal Aswad checkpoint in the Tal Barak countryside said that “the Syrian Arab Army, they prevented an American patrol of 4 armored vehicles from crossing through it. ”
The officer added that ” the checkpoint personnel prevented the patrol from approaching the checkpoint 500 meters away from it, and they were ready to deal with the armored vehicles if they refused to withdraw.”
