The Syrian Arab Army intercepted a drone loaded with cluster bombs over Jabal Al-Sheikh (var. Mount Hermon) region near the occupied Golan Heights on Saturday morning.

The Syrian Armed Forces said the drone belonged to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), adding that they have been closely monitoring their airspace since the recent turmoil in the Persian Gulf region.

Israel has not commented on this interception nor the previous downing of a drone over the Damascus suburb of Aqraba earlier this week.

In addition, Syrian intelligence agencies discovered a stash of weapons, ammunition, medicine, food, and equipment produced in Israel, in the village of Barika in the suburbs of Quneitra.

Israel seized control of the Golan Heights from Syria during the 1967 Six-Day War and annexed the territory in 1981, although the move was not recognised by the United Nations. In 2018, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution urging Israel to immediately withdraw its forces from the occupied territory.

Please treat this discussion with the same respect you would a public park. We, too, are a shared community resource — a place to share skills, knowledge and interests through ongoing conversation.

These are not hard and fast rules, merely guidelines to aid the human judgment of our community and keep this a clean and well-lighted place for civilized public discourse.

Improve the Discussion

Help us make this a great place for discussion by always working to improve the discussion in some way, however small. If you are not sure your post adds to the conversation, think over what you want to say and try again later.

Be Agreeable, Even When You Disagree

You may wish to respond to something by disagreeing with it. That’s fine. But remember to criticize ideas, not people. Please avoid:

  • Name-calling
  • Ad hominem attacks
  • Responding to a post’s tone instead of its actual content
  • Knee-jerk contradiction

Instead, provide reasoned counter-arguments that improve the conversation.

  1. C’mon, this is a commercial “civilian” drone customised to carry likely 4 grenades or 4 sub-munitions from a Russian cluster-bomb. Although I don’t remember its name, I’ve already seen pictures of this quadcopter prom time to time, it’s available to anyone willing to pay.
The models used by IDF are well known, same BS for the 2 Chinese (or Iranian copies?) DJI hexacopter drones used to pseudo-attack Hezbo media-wing in Beirut.

Look for some Nusra/HTS sleeper-cell in the area, using some SIGINT system next time : it’s gonna happen again for sure!

=> C’mon, Sana has already shown this depot 4x under different angles and also aligning the weapons outside, and if I remember well, except Israeli medkits any cretin can buy online from Tsahal surplus and which are very popular in sports like hunting, hiking etc because they’re complete, very light, of high quality but moreover, they’re d**n cheap and shipping is free worldwide.

Moreover, everybody knows the history of Druze “Golan Knights” and how they protected the Quneitra area from Nusra for several years, thanks to IDF help while SAA did nothing to help the Druzes… Has AMN ever wrote an article about Israeli field hospitals deployed at the border who provided medical treatment to thousands of Syrian Druzes who took refuge in the DMZ which was patrolled by Golan Knights who actually received transborder+artillery support from Israel. This was a win-win : although often being seen as Muslims, Druzes have their own religion. Nusra or ISIS would have slaughtered them, and just like for the Kurds, SAA let them behind while withdrawing under militants’ pressure. By arming/backing the Druzes, even paying salaries to their 2 small local militias, Israel avoided jihadist infiltrations while any move against the Druzes ended with severe punishment, usually in the form of an AH-64.

The funniest with Sana : they filmed several seized ISIS arms depot saying there were Israeli weapons, by examining the video, I noticed ZERO Israeli stuff, not even a medkit, 6 cannisters for US “bazooka” rockets, Motorola talkies and 95% remaining wasn’t western at all. LOTSA AK-47 and Steyr HS50 Iranian copies, even Chinese 120mm mortars NO ARMY uses in the region, most of the weapons and ammos were either Russian or their Chinese copies…

Seriously, guys, you’re losing any credibility with such bias!
Remember what happened last year on May 14th, when 60 were killed at the Gaza fence: your “Robert Inlakesh” hammered that IDF was slaughtering civilians with all his rhetorical talent while Hamas’ own website had published the mourning pages for 50 of its fighters killed at the fence, and so did PIJ for 3 of its fighters, other deaths were likely PLO/PFLP militants.
Hey guys! Hamas is OFFICIALLY part of the Muslim Brotherhood which is banned as a terorist organisation in Syria, Russia/CSTO, Egypt and Gulf monarchies but Qatar, they are totally insane, use human shields and deliberately launch rockets on civilian areas but guess what? Hamas, despite leading a debilitating propaganda which gained the name of “Pallywood” at worldwide level, manages to end less biased about Israel than AMN!

Hey, guys, guess what? What would we be REALLY great would be a news site about the MENA who would ONLY say the TRUTH about everybody, rather than serving agendas…
Mark my words, it’d become the most controversial thing, because…
Take ALL regimes, there are NO GOOD GUYS!
You know, there are already enough REAL bad things to say about Israel without bias, the problem is, especially compared to other countries in the region, if you’re unbiased, the positive things win by far…
