BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:10 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA), alongside Hezbollah, made a push towards the border-city of Albukamal this evening in a new bid to clear the Iraqi border with the Deir Ezzor Governorate.
Backed by the Russian Air Force, the Syrian Arab Army and Hezbollah stormed the area directly east of the recently liberated T-2 Pumping Station in western Deir Ezzor tonight.
Not long after launching the attack, the Syrian Arab Army and Hezbollah managed to liberate 7km of territory east of the T-2 Pumping Station, marking their first advance towards Albukamal from this base.
While the operation to liberate Albukamal is not in full gear yet, the Syrian Army is attempting to strengthen their positions west of the city so that they can intensify the pressure on the remaining Islamic State terrorists in the area.
