BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:50 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA), alongside Hezbollah and Liwaa Fatemiyoun, resumed their offensive operations in the eastern countryside of Homs, Saturday, targeting the Islamic State’s (ISIL) last positions at the Arak Gas Fields.
Led by their elite 5th Corps, the Syrian Arab Army and their allies attacked the Islamic State’s positions at Hazm Al-Sawanah (also known as the Arak Gas Station), inflicting heavy damage on the terrorist group’s defenses.
According to the Syrian Ministry of Defense, the Syrian Arab Army and their allies took control of the Arak Gas Station after a series of intense clashes with the Islamic State terrorists along the Arak-Sukhnah Road on Saturday.
In addition to capturing the Arak Gas Station, the Syrian Arab Army pushed further east towards the Al-‘Zeeb Hill, capturing most of the territory south of this site.
An Al-Masdar field correspondent in Damascus reported that the Syrian Army is attempting to close the pocket between Arak and the T-3 Pumping Station before they begin their imperative assault on the Islamic State stronghold of Sukhnah.
