Less than 24 hours after launching the long-awaited Latakia offensive, units from the Desert Hawks, Syrian Marines, and the Special Forces made a major breakthrough on the Kinsibba front.

The Syrian Army has now captured Shillif hilltop and Toubal Castle south of Kinsibba permitting the attacking forces to gain high ground against the entrenched jihadists. The jihadist forces in that region are mostly comprised of the Islamist Turkistani Party, Al Qaida-affiliated terrorists, and the FSA’s 1st Coastal Division.

Notably, no casualties have been reported so far on the Syrian Army’s side of the operation. Clashes are expected to intensify as the government troops advance on jihadist positions near the Turkish borders.

It would be very useful for the readers when publishing a photo of a map to include a measurement for the distance.
