BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:00 P.M.) – For the fourth time this week, the Islamist rebels attempted to sneak past the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) lines near the Idlib buffer zone and attack the government troops in the northern countryside of Hama.
According to a military report from Hama, the militants of Jaysh Al-‘Izza attempted to bypass the Syrian Army’s positions near the front-line town of Helfaya on Saturday.
However, the Islamist rebels were once again spotted by the Syrian Arab Army scouts near the front-lines; this would prompt a powerful response from the latter towards the encroaching militants.
The Syrian Arab Army would foil the infiltration attempt and inflict heavy casualties within the ranks of the Jaysh Al-‘Izza fighters that tried to by pass the government’s lines in northern Hama.
Since repelling this attack, the Syrian Arab Army has unleashed a powerful response towards the Islamist fortifications around the town of Al-Lataminah.
A source told Al-Masdar News this afternoon that the Syrian Arab Army is now heavily targeting the Islamist defenses along the Hama-Idlib axis.
