BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:30 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) foiled another infiltration attempt by the jihadist rebels in the southern countryside of the Idlib Governorate this week.
According to a military communique from nearby Hama, the Syrian Arab Army was able to thwart an infiltration attempt by Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham at the Khuwayn axis in southeastern Idlib.
The communique said that the Syrian Arab Army spotted the group of infiltrators sneaking towards their positions before they could conduct any attack against the soldiers deployed near the Khuwayn axis.
In response to this infiltration attempt, the Syrian Arab Army unleashed a barrage of missiles and artillery shells towards Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham’s positions in the towns of Khan Sheikhoun, Al-Tah, and Jarjanaz.
Both sides are now exchanging heavy hostilities along the Hama-Idlib axis, as the situation continues to come apart in northwestern Idlib.
