DAMASCUS, SYRIA (3:15 A.M.) – The Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) launched a new offensive in the Deir Ezzor Governorate on Wednesday, targeting the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) controlled Al-Sina’a District near the western bank of the Euphrates River.
Launching their assault from Sakr Island, the Islamic State militants established control over a dock near the Al-Sina’a District on Wednesday afternoon.
ISIS would then storm the Syrian Arab Army’s defenses at the Al-Sina’a District, resulting in a long battle that would stretch into the twilight hours on Wednesday evening.
The Syrian Armed Forces would eventually route the remaining Islamic State terrorists by 10:45 P.M. (Damascus Time) after killing a large number of militants and inflicting heavy damage on their equipment.
According to a military source at the Deir Ezzor Airport, the Al-Sina’a District has been cleared of the Islamic State terrorists; however, they are expected to launch another attack on this site in the coming hours.
