DAMASCUS, SYRIA (3:00 P.M.) – The Syrian government troops repelled a major assault launched by the Islamic State on Jadeed Fritan hill in the eastern countryside of Hama.
A military source said that at least 15 militants were killed and injured in the failed attack.
Meanwhile, the Army troops – backed by the Palestinian al-Quds Brigade and local fighters – resumed the offensive aimed to recapture the ISIS-held Qualib al-Thor town.
The government forces managed to seize a strategic hill that overlooks the town, thus opening the way for more significant advances inside the town.
The same town was almost entirely captured by the Syrian Army, but was forced to withdraw following a fierce counterattack by the Islamic State militants.
