BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:00 A.M.) – Syrian Arab Army (SAA) troops and pro-government fighters launched a counter-offensive against anti-government militants after SAA positions were attacked in in the eastern Jobar district of Damascus, Sunday.

Earlier in the day the troops reportedly came under attack from the Tahrir al-Sham militant group, a Syrian umbrella organisation that includes Jabhat Fateh Al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra).

Video footage from the east Damascus front was captured by Ruptly on Sunday; it shows the Syrian Army fighting near the Alboumar Garages in Al-‘Abbasiyeen.

The government troops were able to push back the attack, according to reports, and have since been able to retake key positions.
