BEIRUT, LEBANON (5:40 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) resumed their offensive along the eastern bank of the Euphrates River on Tuesday evening, liberating a new town located in Deir Ezzor’s northeastern countryside.
Led by elements of the 4th Division and 5th Legion, the Syrian Arab Army managed to break-through the Islamic State’s (ISIL) front-lines near the town of Hatla Al-Tahtani, killing and wounding scores of terrorists in the process.
According to a military source in Deir Ezzor, the Syrian Arab Army liberated Hatla Al-Tahtani shortly after entering the town last night.
With Hatla Al-Tahtani under their control, the Syrian Arab Army has secured a crossing northeast of Saqr Island and ended the Islamic State’s assault from Hatla Fouqaniyah.
In addition to their advance, the Syrian Arab Army is also working to cutoff the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces from the southern part of the Deir Ezzor Governorate.
