BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:30 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has officially entered the southern part of the Jabal Al-Zawiya region after advancing into southwestern Idlib earlier this week.

Led by the Tiger Forces, the Syrian Arab Army scored an important advance into the Jabal Al-Zawiya region this week after advancing north of Huwayz in southwestern Idlib.

As illustrated in the map below, the Syrian Army officially entered the Jabal Al-Zawiya region after seizing the town of Qasabiyah from the jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham.

Al-Masdar News

This advance by the Syrian Arab Army has fully secured the northern flank of Kafr Naboudeh, but the eastern axis of the town still remains susceptible to jihadist attacks.

In order to secure the eastern axis of Kafr Naboudeh, the Syrian Arab Army will have to capture the key hilltop of Tal Sakher, which is situated at the southwestern part of the town.

Once Tal Sakher is captured, the Syrian Arab Army can make a push to capture the town of Al-Hobeit. Al-Hobeit is the first major town under the control of the jihadist rebels in southwestern Idlib.

Good for the Syrian Government and the SAA. Hopefully, with help from the RuAF they can recover Idlib from the various jihadis and Turkish supported rebels. Once, Idlib is recovered the Syrians will have a stronger hand to negotiate with the US supported SDF who I presume will come under pressure from the Turks.

It’s just a small town and a few villages inside the Idlib governorate. Manbij is 240km from here. Turks will have problems to put pressure on SDF since they already had to move many of their proxies to try to contain this offensive and I doubt they will dare to imply their regular army in combats snce it would mean having to fight directly against either the US or the Russian… At the rate things are progressing, Idlib governorate may take 2 years to be cleansed ; if you include what remains to be retaken in west Aleppo, it’s as… Read more »

“…It’s just a small town and a few villages inside the Idlib governorate. …”
What, neither the Turkish backed FSA nor foreign jihadis could hold these insignificant towns and thereby just let the SAA walk in. Grow up! For the Syrian Government and SAA these little gains allows them better protection of Kafr Naboudeh and a jumping off point to further movements in Idlib.
