Just 24 hours after declaring fire control over the Thayyem Oil Fields in Deir Ezzor’s southwestern countryside, the Syrian Arab Army’s 137th Artillery Brigade of the 17th Reserve Division – backed by the National Defense Forces (NDF) – have encircled the remaining fighters from the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) at the southern oil wells.
The Syrian Armed Forces were able to complete the encirclement of the Thayyem Oil Fields after the remaining ISIS terrorists entrenched themselves at the southern oil wells, instead of retreating from the area in order to avoid being besieged.
In addition to the encirclement of the Thayyem Oil Fields, the Syrian Armed Forces have seized more territory around the Gas Company’s Technical Institute in Deir Ezzor’s southwestern countryside; however, they have not captured this site, despite several reports making this claim.
Southeast of the Deir Ezzor Military Airport, ISIS launched another powerful assault on the Syrian Arab Army’s defenses at the villages of Al-Jafra and Al-Muri’iyah; this led to a series of firefights between the two parties, but no gains made.
North of Deir Ezzor City, ISIS attempted to capture Al-Rawad Hill for the third time this week, but they were once again repelled by the Syrian Arab Army’s 104th Airborne Brigade of the Republican Guard.
