BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:20 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) resumed their Al-Qaboun offensive on Wednesday after the jihadist rebel forces inside the district refused to surrender their final positions to the government.

Led by the 42nd Brigade of the 4th Mechanized Division, the Syrian Arab Army managed to capture 27 buildings from the jihadist rebels in Al-Qaboun, yesterday, paving the way for their big advance on Thursday afternoon.

According to local sources, the Syrian Arab Army captured most of the building blocks in the eastern sector of Al-Qaboun, killing and wounding several jihadist rebels in the process of this advance.

With most of eastern Al-Qaboun under their control, the Syrian Arab Army is on the verge of splitting the entire district into two separate pockets; if this happens, the jihadist rebels will have no choice but to surrender.

They’ve been close to winning Qaboun for months now, and I bet they’ll be close next year too!
