BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:00 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) battlefield successes have paved the way for their high command to honorably discharge all conscripted soldiers and reserve officers aged 42 and above.

According to a statement from their high command, this decree will become effective immediately and will include all conscripts and reserve officers, except for military doctors.

Due to the war winding down, the demand for soldiers has diminished greatly and allowed for many conscripts that have served for over the two-year minimum to be discharged from service.

Another major catalyst behind the decrease in demand for soldiers is the rise of paramilitary groups like the National Defense Forces (NDF); these militias allow for locals to protect and police their towns and villages.

Err, I doubt there are many +42y old conscripts since usual conscription age is 18y old… I doubt that many manadged to dodge military service for 22-24 years, ending as conscripts at the age of 40-41 in the last 2 years…

, IMHO You overlook that reservists can be conscripted soldiers not regular soldiers.

Above that: due to Syrian laws many were not called up or not called up for full term in peace time because of education… or other reasons.

BTW. During the war many were called for several terms in a row and not released after serving for two years.

So all those soldiers who are no regulars and 42 are released.

Se refiere a reservas, en tiempos de guerra estas reservas son requeridas por el ejercito. Claro no son muchos pero los hay.
