The Syrian Arab Army’s 103rd Brigade of the Republican Guard – backed by the Syrian Marines, Desert Hawks Brigade, and National Defense Forces (NDF) – launched their 7th assault at the strategic town of Kabani on Sunday morning, resulting in a violent series of clashes with the extremist rebels at points 1125 and 1154.

According to the Desert Hawks battlefield corespondent, Eyad Al-Hussein, the Syrian Armed Forces struck several enemy locations around the southwestern perimeter of Kabani, killing a large number of fighters from Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group), Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) in the process.

So far, there have been no reports of any gains made by the Syrian Armed Forces, despite the intensity of their assault on the Jihadist rebel defenses  this morning.

Kabani is one of the last towns in the Latakia Governorate that is still under rebel control; if captured, the Syrian Armed Forces will be within striking distance of Al-Sirmaniyah in the Idlib Governorate.
