BEIRUT, LEBANON (5:00 A.M.) – A new rocket artillery system – natively produced by Syrian military industry – has been approved for service with the the Syrian Army following the completion of field tests.

According to sources, the new weapon is called the Goulan-1000 (seen above), the latest model of the Syrian Army’s Goulan self-propelled rocket artillery series.

As far as basic known specifications go, the Goulan-1000 posses a three-tube traversable launcher (placed atop an tracked armored chassis) that fires 500-mm rockets – each rocket is estimated to deliver a punch exceeding four hundred kilograms of high-explosive.

The new artillery system is to enter service with rocket detachments of the Syrian Army’s 4th Mechanized Division and may be used in the upcoming government operation against Islamic State forces in southern Damascus.
