BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:00 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) kicked off an operation along a new axis in western Daraa yesterday.
Led by their elite Republican Guard forces, the Syrian Arab Army began the operation by storming the Free Syrian Army’s (FSA) positions at the large hilltop of Tal Zamitiyah.
Not long after attacking this hilltop, the Syrian Arab Army was able to impose full control over Tal Zamitiyah after overwhelming the Free Syrian Army fighters in the area.
As a result of this advance, the Syrian Army was able to impose fire control over the last rebel supply line from west Daraa to the eastern countryside of the province.
The video below shows the Syrian Arab Army capturing Tal Zamitiyah yesterday:
Since launching this operation, the Syrian Arab Army has managed to secure their positions along Tal Zamitiyah, which is devastating for the rebel forces in east Daraa.
For the Syrian Army, this is their first successful operation in west Daraa; it will likely pave the way for more attacks in the future.
