DAMASCUS, SYRIA (5: 30 P.M.) – Clashes broke out in the Eastern Ghouta region as the government forces stormed rebel defensives deep in the insurgent-held enclave.
According to a military source, the government troops broke into Hawsh al-Salhiyah amid heavy battles with the Saudi-backed Jaish al-Islam, and managed to cut off Tall Farzat-al-Nashabiyah supply route.
Whether the Army troops were capable of fortifying their positions inside the town or withdrew as a result of clashes remains yet unclear.
Elsewhere, units from the Syrian Army made a slight advance inside Hawsh al-Dawahra town, reaching the outskirts of the cemetery and town’s main mosque.
