Exclusive picture of the Desert Hawks Brigade in Palmyra on Wednesday

The Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division, alongside the Desert Hawks, Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP), National Defense Forces (NDF), and Syrian Marines, continued their large-scale offensive in the western countryside of the Al-Raqqa Governorate on Saturday after liberating the Zakiyah Crossroad the day before.

However, mother nature put this offensive on a temporary hold, as a dust storm engulfed the west Raqqa countryside for several hours on Saturday morning.

Once the storm past, the Syrian Armed Forces struck the Islamic State’s defenses near the large desert village of Abu Allaj, resulting in an intense battle for nearly six hours on Saturday.

According to a source from the Desert Hawks, the Syrian Armed Forces are approximately 30 km west of the strategic Tabaqa Military Airport in the Al-Raqqa Governorate.
