Soldiers from the 3rd Armored Division cross an open field after the Islamist rebels fled building ahead.

DAMASCUS, SYRIA (4:00 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA), backed by the Palestine Liberation Army (PLA) and National Defense Forces (NDF) continued their large-scale advance inside the East Ghouta region of rural Damascus on Saturday, targeting the Islamist-controlled village of Al-Reyhan.

Led by the 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard, the Syrian Arab Army and their allies managed to capture 3 farms at the outskirts of Al-Reyhan, leaving them approximately 500 meters away from the town’s gates.

Making matters worse for Jaysh Al-Islam (Army of Islam), the Syrian Armed Forces cut the road to the strategic hilltop village of Tal Kurdi; this leaves the Islamist rebels nearly surrounded at all flanks.

According to a military source, 4 fighters were killed and another 18 were injured from Jaysh Al-Islam, while the Syrian Armed Forces reported no casualties.
