DAMASCUS, SYRIA (1:20 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army’s “Al-Qassem Group” conducted a special military operation on Sunday to destroy two large supply tunnels that belonged to the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) in Deir Ezzor.
Starting in the Al-‘Arfi District, the Al-Qassem group dug under the massive Islamic State tunnel, so that their explosives would bring this site down once they were detonated.
The Al-Qassem group then dug under another tunnel in the nearby Bour Sa’eed District, placing more explosives under this terrorist site.
Once the explosives were placed under the tunnels, the Syrian Arab Army detonated the bombs on Sunday afternoon, killing and wounding dozens of Islamic State terrorists, while also destroying their supply hubs.
Video footage of the Syrian Army destroying these tunnels was captured by Syrian TV on Sunday; it shows the moment the explosives were detonated inside Deir Ezzor.
The Al-Qassam group is a special forces unit that is part of the Republican Guard and under the command of General Ghassan Tarraf.
