BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:40 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) clashed with the jihadist rebels in southern Aleppo last night after both sides traded hostilities throughout the day.

According to a military report from the provincial capital, the Syrian Arab Army attacked the jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham at the town of Khalsa in southern Aleppo; this would result in a heavy clashes that would last throughout the night.

The clashes would eventually dissipate as dawn approached; however, not before both sides suffered a number of casualties as a result of this fierce exchange.

A source in Aleppo city said tensions have risen exponentially over the last few days due to the chemical weapons attack.

The Syrian Arab Army has been placed on high alert since the attack and they have moved towards the front-lines in several parts of the province in order to deter any future jihadist strikes.
