BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:35 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) recently carried out a night operation in retaliation for a previous jihadist attack on their positions in northern Latakia this week.
Led by the Republican Guard, the Syrian Army heavily targeted the jihadists from Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham and the Turkestan Islamic Party (TIP) near the Turkish border.
The Syrian Army reportedly struck the jihadist positions inside the northern Latakia towns of Tafahiyah, Nawara, and Shahroura.
According to a military source in the area, the bulk of this assault by the Syrian Army was carried out using ATGMs (anti-tank guided missile) and surface-to-surface missiles.
This attack comes just 24 hours after the jihadist rebels attacked the Syrian Arab Army’s positions in the Jabal Al-Akrad (Kurdish Mountains) region of northern Latakia.
